TERMS AND TERMINOLOGY ABOUT HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY

In this video we’re going to cover some of the top terms and concepts that any hyperbaric oxygen therapy practitioner really needs to know and be familiar with.

It’s important to understand these basic concepts not just for your own knowledge, but to also be able to explain them to your patients or other healthcare practitioners.

CONVERSION EQUATIONS
Here are the conversion equations I referred to for 3 of the most common units of measurement for pressure:

ATA to PSI = Subtract 1, multiply by 14.7

ATA to FSW = Subtract 1, multiply by 33

PSI to ATA = Divide by 14.7, add 1

PSI to FSW = Divide by .445

FSW to ATA = Add 33, divide by 33 (or Divide by 33 and Add 1)

FSW to PSI = Multiply by .445
